Hello fellow water women and men. We’ve got some exciting news for you today!
With consumerism proceeding at a faster pace than our planet can sustain – going green is no longer just a vogue trend, it’s our responsibility.
Even though we’d consider ourselves eco-conscious by sourcing locally and keeping wastefulness to a minimum, we’ve seen just how much our small business consumes – from packaging to production. I remember the holidays last year when the warehouse was filled with cardboard boxes and other byproducts of the shipping and production process. And to think, we’re just a tiny speck compared to the rest of the industry. I can’t imagine how much we all consume on a global level.
Our team at Deep End realizes that the decisions we make can have a big influence on the environment. By setting an example for other businesses to follow, our collective efforts can have a huge impact – larger than any of us would be able to achieve on our own.
So here’s the big announcement: From 2021 onwards, are committed to using only sustainable materials in our packaging and products. From corn and recycled cotton to bamboo and hemp – these power plants are the materials of the future. Not only do they need less water and use little to no pesticides, but they also grow like crazy and can make a product that is superior in touch, feel, and quality!
From 2021 onwards, are committed to using only sustainable materials in our packaging and products.
All our US shipping is carbon neutral. This means that for every package shipped, we support world-changing initiatives aimed at preserving and regenerating natural ecosystems, whether it’s restoring endangered rainforest habitats or providing clean water access for communities in Africa. By doing so, we ensure that all deliveries have a net carbon footprint of zero.
Our shipping bags are made from corn and are 100% biodegradable. After opening your package, you can safely throw our mailers into your home compost. This packaging will biodegrade in any moist soil environment in about 90 days!
We’re also developing a new translucent biodegradable bag for individual garments. Have you’ve ordered anything online, you probably received it in a clear plastic polybag. These clear polybags create a lot of waste. We’ve phased out polybags in our packaging, but we’re hoping to add our biodegradable polybags (they’re great for protecting clothing during transit) as soon as they are available in the next few months.
This is just the beginning. While we transition to completely sustainable materials, you might see a little plastic here and there from old packaging. Starting from our upcoming spring collection, all our products will use sustainable or recycled materials. The future is closer than we think – and we believe if we take care of the earth, the earth will in turn take care of us.
Stay tuned for the new goods – you’ll truly feel good wearing them!
